Well this is going to take somehow I managed to get basic
lift kismet to work. This is by far the biggest amount of kismet I had to
compile together.
Well where to start off . . . Ok at first I wanted to get the
mechanics of the lift doors sorted closing/opening.
So there triggers are very complicated. Pressing the lift button
using the button ‘E’ will activate a play sound trigger that plays a message
stating “lift will arrive in 5 seconds”. At the same time pressing this trigger
will activate a delay timer off 5 seconds that then connects to the matinee
animation of the lift moving up or down towards your chosen floor. The trigger
volume boxes outside the lift door are there once touch send a 13 second delay
timer to reverse the lift animation on the floor your on and the corresponding floor
you want to go to. With this in mind there is a chance if you stand in the lift
too long over 13 seconds I believe you can get stuck in there if the lift door
shuts on you. I was just hoping on presentation day no player would stand in
the lift any longer then needed too so they would get stuck this was an huge
bug that I did think of sorting out but I didn't get around to it in the end.
Thankfully no player on presentation day stood in the lift for an unnecessary
reason
Now to talk about inside the lift and the lift movement
kismet mapping. Looking at the physic button in the lift that says “Push, Press
& wait” you will push a trigger that starts the lifts movement to your designated
floor for a total of 5 seconds. Also as soon as you press this button you hit a
delay timer for 23 seconds that will reverse the lift animation to go to the floor
you just came from.
I realise there probably is a more simplistic approach to
kismetting a lift and lift doors but this kismet was all done purely using my
own mind to work out problems and finding out how to fix them and make things
work.
